Johan also says "Sun Tzu states in his writings in the Art of War, that if you know yourself and you know your enemy you will be victorious in a 100 battles, know only yourself and not your enemy your chances of winning or losing are equal. Be ignorant of yourself and of your enemy and you will be defeated in every battle.
He also writes that because every war is different, no specific rules of strategy or tactics can be formulated such that following them will always produce victory.Only the flexible, adaptable and inventive will win.
We train so that we have various options and skills to defeat the enemy. Training people to be prepared is my way of making a difference in the world.”
Annie Kluson
Urban Warfare Trainer and Co-ordinator
Annie Kluson, the creator of Urban Warfare, is a passionate Krav Maga addict and a vital member of the IKI SA Head Office team. She’s also responsible for teaching trainees the “business end” of close combat – firearm skills.
“The whole point of Krav Maga is to empower people,” says Annie. “It’s our job to give them the skills and confidence to live on their terms – to positively change their perception, to attract the very best in life, and to help them understand that we’re all capable of so much more than we think we are.”
Annie is a Close Protection Officer and also one of the few women who have completed firearm training up to tactical level.
“Knowledge is power,” she says, “and for many people, just the thought of a firearm can be a major stumbling block. It’s amazing how those very people change once they’ve undergone proper training – the misconceptions fall away, and there’s often a dramatic change; a sense of fantastic self-confidence and calmness that is instilled in them.”
Annie combines her knowledge of Krav Maga with her expertise as a firearm instructor to host life-changing courses which are unique in their approach. Krav Maga is ideally suited to complement the philosophy of safe and sane firearm use, and lays a perfect foundation for both armed and unarmed self defence.
Her energy and sense of humour is contagious, and serves as an inspiration to those who receive training from her.
“With Urban Warfare, I wanted to create a space where civilians could experience training situations that cover all bases. Our courses are designed to increase skills and have fun at the same time. Though our preferred style is Krav Maga, we have included other styles and methods into our training, broadening the scope. A person only realises the infinite possibilities when you start the training journey. Our events cater for young and old, regardless of previous experience or fitness level. No nonsense or ego..just a comfortable environment for the participant to improve their skill set. Make your move and join us in this powerful step towards living on your own terms."
